Page to be translated - Latin to English?
When it was announced to Rome that Veios had been captured after so many years, the citizens were exceedingly glad, because the war had lasted so long and so many soldiers had been killed. The women ran to the temples to give thanks to the gods. A large crowd of citizens came together to greet Camillus at the entrance to the city. Everyone believed he was the greatest of the (generals) commanders. He was carried into the city on such a splendid chariot, that no one was afraid to emulate him as a god himself; they even asked among themselves whether he wished to be a dictator. Camillus however, with two new temples promised to the gods, immediately gave up his command; for he believed all his duties had been accomplished (finished).
