Is a "Divine Soul" a synonym for a "Buddha", a "Bodhisattva", or neither?

Why does it matter so much? By asking this question, I'm guessing you are a lay practitioner of Buddhism. And, if you are a follower of Buddhism, you know that pondering about this question will not get you near nirvana. It is however you want to interpret it to be. To me, a Divine Soul isn't a synonym for Buddha or a synonym for a Bodhisattva.
